That’s right, in 1910 a woman named Sonora Smart Dodd wanted to honor her father by proposing the date of June 5, his birthday.

Subsequently, in 1924 President Calvin Coolidge officially endorsed this celebration as National Father’s Day. In 1966, President Lyndon Johnson declared the third Sunday of June as the date of the celebration in the USA, with more and more countries around the world joining in.
